Quinnipiac Medical School Needs Preceptors

The Charter Class, the Class of 2017, of the Netter SOM, is now in their fourth year. It seems hard to believe that our first class will be graduating so soon. It seems to most of us, on the full-time faculty, that they have just matriculated.

Over these last three years, 193 practicing physicians in the State of Connecticut have been appointed to our Clinical Faculty, and have participated as preceptors for our Medical Student Home (MeSH) Program. These Internists, Family Physicians and Pediatricians have hosted our students, during the students' first and second years, in their practices for one afternoon a week. Discounting vacations, holidays and curriculum conflicts, this has usually amounted to about fifty afternoons over the two year time spans. I am pleased to say that, with few exceptions, our preceptors have found the experience to be rewarding, gratifying and enjoyable.

In August the Class of 2020 will be matriculating at Netter, a class of approximately 90 students, chosen from an impressive applicant pool of over 7,500. We need to recruit and appoint 10-15 more preceptors to meet their needs. Board Certified Internists, Family Physicians and Pediatricians, as well as medical subspecialists who are comfortable in all organ systems (e.g. Endocrinologists, ID specialists, Intensivists), and who hold active CT medical licenses, are eligible to apply. The position is associated with a reasonable stipend and a full faculty appointment.

Looking foward to hearing from you,
